SOLVE THREE PROBLEMS AT ONCE. The OEM dampener is very well known to cause lots of problems on your 2002-2006 MINI. The bushings wear out causing strange noises and dampener failure. When the dampener wears out, it causes instability in your your belt tension, premature belt failure, shortened life of bushings and tensioner spring, and slippage under full throttle. Also, the OEM dampener can't protect your crank pulley and related parts from getting destroyed in the event a belt fails.

ADJUSTABLE BELT TENSION When you replace the OEM hydraulic dampener with the ALTA Performance Tension Damper, more tension is added to the belt. The ALTA Performance Tension Damper eliminates tensioner bounce and adds more tension than the OEM dampener, allowing better performance and response under extreme driving conditions. BUILT IN TENSIONER STOP Why do you need an adjustable ALTA Tensioner Stop? SImple! At some point in your MINI's life, the serpentine belt that drives the Supercharger and AC, will fail. When it fails, the OEM belt tensioner mechanism plunges into the crank pulley, destroying the tensioner and crank pulley. The adjustable ALTA Tensioner Stop simply replaces the original tensioner dampener solidly holding onto the tensioner arm preventing damage when the belt fails.

SAVE MONEY If your stock belt tensioner pulley is jumping around, your dampener and bushings need to be replaced. This is common on MINI's that have 50K or more miles. You have to buy the whole assembly ($250) to get a new pulley dampener. You can remove this problematic part, install the ALTA Performance Tension Damper, save yourself tons of money in repairs and never have to deal with this problem again.

EASY INSTALLATION The ALTA Adjustable Tensioner Stop is a breeze to install and only requires the motor be jacked up slightly. The tensioner assembly does not need to be removed as the installation can be done right on the engine, saving you about 30 minutes of shop labor to install it!

Installed short shifter kit with no problems except kit did not come with 'o' ring for shifter shaft. Factory 'o' ring was too larger off of OEM shift lever. I would also recommend some good out door adhesive to reinstall dust cover on shift box, because some of the locking tabs may break off when removing. And with this short shifter kit there is no need to modify shifter box as some other products require you to leave dust cover off or purchase a drop cover to accommodate the longer shift lever. The owner is nice, prices are in line with others or better. My complaints are twofold. First not a blasted thing comes with any installation instructions. The Eventuri intake had excellent ones you could download, the rest had nothing. I guess you are supposed to know how to install before you buy.
Second, I have left a lot of reviews on products (most of them very favorable) and yet they don't show up under the product listing. I rely heavily on customer reviews as I have found they are generally the best gauge of the product. It has aggravated me beyond speaking that I spend the time writing a detailed review, only to never have it post. When I go to the item, it will say "no reviews for this product" and then underneath it "you have written a review for this product". Seriously?
