This is a great solution to get those throws shorter on your MINI Cooper S or manual transmission Cooper or One. By extending the factory installed shifter rod (under the pivot point) you can reduce the shift throw without reducing the shift knob height in the car. This simple extension made by Helix reduces the throws by 37% making gear changes a breeze. The next step up in price from this one is the Alta (variable to 40%), Cravenspeed, or the B&M (fixed 27%), all of which replace the stock shifter rod and some mechanical parts. The install of this adapter is done from under the car and does not require removal of the shift assembly as the other kits do. Once installed the plastic dust cover will not be used, but the factory installed aluminum heat sheild will do a good job of keeping dirt out.
