Trailer Hitch Plate + Accessories

When I/Out Motoring needed to haul a bundle of stuff from our facility in Ohio down to the Tail of the Dragon event in North Carolina, I relied on the Mini Do More Hitch and Trailer system to get our product and displays down in style and safety. While impossible to get all the product and displays down inside the MINI, this system allowed to transport more than I ever imagined. In fact, most people were shocked at all the stuff I brought.

The base system is a simple bracket that is hidden behind the stock bumper assembly and can only be seen if the oval plate (or fog light/reverse light on the Gen 1 MINI's) in the center of the lower rear bumper is removed. On the Gen 2 MINI's there rear lower grill is modified to allow access to the hitch. A socket allows you to hook up a number of accessories inlcluding many off the shelf trailers, bike racks, trays, extensions, or a draw bar to be plugged in allowing a trailer to be pulled. The vast majority of MINI drivers will use this base Hitch plate in conjunction with an aftermarket bike rack attachment (like Thule, Yakima, etc.) while a fair amount hook up one of the flat extensions for autocross tires, etc.

Or course, you can also pull a small trailer, like I did. By far the best looking trailer I've seen is the CUSTOM painted 48"x50" trailer that can be color matched to your car. To top it all off there is a custom wiring system that is easiliy installed and allows full safety features like brake lights, etc. on the trailer.

Hitch Detail:
-1 1/4" Class I Receiver SAE J684 Certification – No other Cooper S receiver hitch on the market have this Certification!

Wiring Kit Detail:
-Standard 4 plug connector
-Active tail converter that functions without applying additional loads to the Mini’s wiring or computer
-Takes power from a direct feed from the batter with 10 amp fuse
-Takes 3 brake and stop signals (left turn, right turn, stop) and converts to two light signal on trailer lights (left turn and stop, right turn and stop)
-Includes all required wiring, connectors, and detailed installation instructions

Drawbar Detail:
-1 1/4” Class I drawbar with 2” drop
-Includes 1 7/8” ball
-Tow chain hooks included
-1/2" pin and clip included
-All stored in an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) Mini Cooper trunk mounted tool bag
-Draw bar bag uses clips and mounts in boot of car when not in use
