There are 3 generations of MINI and each model is described below grouped by generation.
Bigger, Faster, Stronger:
The Gemini mount is designed as a universal holder and can safely hold almost any phone or nav unit. It includes stick on adapters to apply to the back of your phone/nav unit which then is held firmly in place to the magnetic base. The main bracket and magnetic base attach directly to the back of the MINI tachometer (see drop down menu for options) using factory screw holes (new longer screws are supplied).
Location, location, location
Your device is so much more than a phone. We use our smartphones as advanced GPS devices with turn by turn directions and traffic avoidance. These crazy valuable features of your phone are really tough to take advantage of unless you have the phone secured where you can see it. This Gemini puts your phone in a better viewing location than any other car phone mount could; it attaches to existing holes on the back of your tachometer. Once installed the phone location can be adjusted easily by pivoting the on the bracket, just move it and it stays put. Both the Magnet and Scissor will then allow the phone to rotate into portrait or landscape mode.
Many of the phones tested were sufficiently magnetic on their own to
just attach right to the mount. If not, we include two sizes of metal
plates with adhesive backing. You could stick one to your phone, but if
you use a case, it just goes between the case and the phone and works
beautifully. While this magnetic mount is quick and easy to use.

IMPORTANT: If you have a portable navigation system, Ipod mount, existing gauges or other accessories already mounted on the back of the Tach this kit will not work unless you happen to have a cravenspeed gauge kit and opt to get the alternate base- please contact us for more info.

Works as advertised. I have a Galaxy S7 in an Otter box. Magnetic mount holds on tight.
Advantages: Quick install and easy to use. Phone easy to see.
Disadvantages: I switched to left hand mount. It was too close to the right vent.

This customer purchased the item at our site.
I installed this on my new-to-me 2006 MINI Cooper S.
Advantages: Installation took less than 10 minutes. The unit places the phone out of direct sight lines, compared to a dash mount.
Disadvantages: The most difficult part of the process was finding a T25 that was long and skinny enough to remove the screws that secure the tachometer, especially the one on the right.
