This works on all Gen1 MINI models that require a 36mm 6 point socket to remove the filter cover. To avoid cover damage never use a 12 point common socket. The socket is designed to function with all 3/8" drive mechanics ratchet. You'll be surprised how hard it is to find a 36mm socket at your local hardware store....better be safe and pick one of these up if you are going to start doing your own oil changes in your MINI Cooper. FYI: Gen 2 MINI models require a 27mm socket.
