PLEASE NOTE: MINI recommends the 0-20 oil for the "F" series MINI Models/ Gen3.
MINI changed the oil filter starting with the Jan 2020 builds. This kit ONLY fits models below starting with the 2020 model year.
We now offer the option to add a MINI model/engine specific oil filter socket if needed. See drop down menu.
Also, please note that there are a few variations of the F series engines and some only require 4.55 quarts while others require 5.5. For example the B36 and B38 engines require only 4.5 quarts while the B46 and B48 engines requires 5.5 quarts.
This kit has 6 quarts. We have decided to just sell ONLY the 6 quart kit and those with smaller oil capacity will have a extra quart of oil to top it off as needed- or save it for the next oil change. Please do NOT overfill your MINI if you are doing a oil change and your MINI only requires 5 quarts. Your owners manual OR digital display should define how much oil your exact MINI requires- or review the list above and confirm which engine you have with the documentation in the engine bay.
Every oil change requires a new filter and 5 (or 6) quarts of approved MINI oil. The stock drain plug can be reused a few times but it is a good idea to replace it every few oil changes because the threads get worn, the head can take abuse and get stripped out and as it tightened the threads can stretch a bit which in extreme cases can allow oil to leak. Don't risk taking your MINI to a shop that uses poor quality filters and low quality oil- AND re uses the old drain plug- even if they've stripped it out! Do your MINI right and use the MINI Cooper OEM MINI Oil and filter which is the best for your vehicle. Even if you have to bring your own stuff (this kit) to the shop, it would be better than whatever they use (unless they use OEM parts). Of course, if you are a DIY oil change kind of person, you'll want to have a few of these kits on hand.
